Life is buzzing at Caffènation! For the past 20 years, Rob Berghmans has been turning his full-bodied dream into a well-measured reality: currently running four coffee shops in Antwerp, the roaster has more than one trick up his coffee maker’s sleeve, serving creations that are always carefully sourced from producers committed to an ethical approach (priced from €7.25 to €12.50 for 250 grams). Some of our favorites? The Roast ED, a blend of Burundi Turaco, Brazilian Cascavel and Guatemalan Huehuetenago beans, even better when sipped with a warm chocolate cookie, before stocking back up on coffee filters (for V60s, Chemex, AeroPress, he’s got it all!) or Nespresso-compatible pods. And if you start to feel your heartbeat rising to dangerous levels, calm things down with a homemade soft drink – but maybe not the ginger soda, save that for another time. // Kiko Zushi

The hidden gem: The Brazil Ian, a rather relaxing blend (€3.20 for a double shot of espresso).
