After spoiling crowds in need of a sugar fix at the Marché des Halles, the former fashionista Corentin Ravard has hit the brakes on his beloved tricycle in order to relocate his sweet treats to a seventies-inspired coffee shop decorated in conjunction with Atelier Just (a white tiled bar, a long pine bench, Arcopal tableware). The perfect hideaway from a sweet escape, via an intense toasted hazelnut cake, vanilla flan topped with almond praline, honeyed madeleines that’ll bring a tear to your eye, classic dark chocolate and fleur de sel cookies, or, depending on the season, citrus pavlova topped with lemon curd or a revelatory babka with a molten cacao-praline center. Preceded of course by an honest brunch (beef bourguignon buns, minestrone with Parmesan cream…) and paired with a glass of lemonade, homemade strawberry milk or coffee from roaster L’Optimist in La Rochelle. This coffee shop is as sweet as cherry pie! // Scotty Lard
THE HIDDEN GEM: The mouthwatering tigrés, an incredibly tender financier with a flavored center – delicious coffee ganache, hazelnut cream, matcha and rapadura sugar, pistachio paste (€4 each)… Roooar!
