Where can you find the best drinks-and-music combo in the Fernand-Cocq neighborhood? Chez ta mère! Or rather, at this spot from Thuan Lam, Pierre Millour (both of whom are behind Liesse) and Stefano Bedani, who has been presiding over the bar (skillfully crafted with his bare hands!) since 2019, when he wasn’t playing bass in the band Mountain Bike. This mildly kitsch bar (grandmotherly sofas, velvet stools, vintage wall lights) has the effect of a Kinder surprise, with its explosive atmosphere and neat references. For us: a knock-out Bloody Ramen mixing organic Froggy B vodka, Dolin vermouth, spicy tomato juice and zucchini spaghetti, served in an Chinese takeout box (€14), or Frank, the carbonated cocktail bottled in house featuring vodka, pomegranate juice, raspberry pickle juice and sugar syrup (€10). Don’t miss out on the draft beers (Théorème from the Brasserie de l’Ermitage at €6.50 for 330 ml), Oyster Thursdays (every Thursday night, 6pm to 8pm) with Breton bivalves, and techno and house DJ sets every Friday (from 10:30pm). // Edgard Glass
