CLOSED ANNUALLY: Open all year round

THE STORY: Longtime friends with restaurant and hospitality experience to their names, Carole Picard and Florence Pons had always dreamed about a joint venture. When they discovered Le Bar Américain, a waning Arles institution, they didn’t give it more than second thought. The idea? Redesign the twelve bedrooms of their future Maison Volver by combinging antique furniture and light fixtures with modern pieces (Be Design metal wardrobes, Hübsch wooden shelves, Danish Commod chests), linen sheets and colorful wallpaper. The result? Rooms that have a very Almodovarian feel, and a familial ambiance that makes for the perfect hangout spot. The common spaces, decorated much in the same vein, include a pretty terrace, the ideal location for an al fresco breakfast. Bedrooms in the high season starting at €150 a night.

TOILETRIES: Stop the Water While Using Me soap, shower gel and shampoo.
INTERNET: Yes (wifi).
BREAKFAST: Included, buffet with coffee or tea, breads, viennoiseries, muesli and homemade granola, eggs, fruits, fruit juices, yogurts, homemade cakes, honey from Camargue and organic jam…
MINI-BAR: No, but there’s a bar/restaurant that’s open until 11pm, which also provides room service.
LITTLE LUXURY: The Handy telephone, which connects you with the concierge service and the best recommendations for restaurants, art galleries and guided visits… by Carole and Florence.
