THE STORY: A British enclave in Tropézian lands, this old Provencal building resuscitated as an arty hotel by a couple of London designers bears the name of the best seller by Peter Mayle. In the rooms, boutis embroidery, footed bathtubs and 18th century beds cozy up with modern armchairs. In the common spaces, the owners display their collections of Ricard carafes, Roy Lichtensteins…or a framed Sex Pistols LP! A beautiful pool bordered by century-old palm trees and a bowling alley completes its charm. It’s not exactly the dreamed-about Saint-Trop’ of the ’50s, but it comes pretty close… Rooms from €225 to €850.
TOILETRIES: Ortega shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: 12 € (continental) with hot drink, baguette, croissant, 20 € (Pastis) with freshly-squeezed orange juice, plain yogurt, viennoiseries in addition to the continental breakfast, eggs, ham and cheese plates extras.
LITTLE LUXURY: The rooms bordering the pool with a terrace or private patio.
