A piece of advice to super thirsty Toulon locals near the harbor: Superbuvette has you covered! This bar is well run by Sarah Pinelle, a former natural wine distributor in Montreal, who traded in harsh Quebec winters for the Var sunshine, determined to quench the local population’s thirst with her selection of fine wines: La Reboule, an Ardèche red from Les Deux Terres (€5 a glass), a Roussillon Carignan from La Petite Baigneuse (€25), Attention Chenin Méchant produced by Nicolas Réau (€23) or Calanque, a rosé from Les Terres des Nues (€20), just to name a few. And to sponge all that up, there are vegetarian nibbles: seasonal vegetable dips, hard-boiled eggs marinated in vinegar, Gard pélardon cheese, olives from the Var… so you don’t end the night super hungover. // Louise Delange

THE BULLET-PROOF BOTTLE: A skin-contact Gewurztraminer produced by Pierre Frick (€35).
