Il Parasole di Marco is the third restaurant from Neapolitan chef Marco Casolla. His lovely beachside spot boasts pistachio green parasols, a wooden terrace and a mixture of whitewashed and terra cotta walls which are guaranteed to teleport you to the Amalfi Coast circa 1960. Served on Vietri ceramic plates from Ravel in Aubagne, indulge in pure slices of la dolce vita: frittura di mare (anchovies, prawns, octopus), cacio e pepe tagliatelle with pecorino and coffee, or, like the day we went for lunch for example, vibrant D’Aniello spaghetti with palourde clams; a heady Delizia di limone pizza (lemony burrata, ricotta, fior di latte, basil pesto, walnuts and slivers of preserved lemon) made on a perfectly matured dough; and to round out the meal, a baba Napoletano with cream of mascarpone and Sorrento lemon. // A.S.
FEELING THIRSTY? A Parasole Spritz (Aperol, prosecco, mandarine liqueur, strawberry, lemon, basil, €10), a full-bodied Primitivo wine for €4 a glass, or wines from Italy, including quite a few organic options, like the fruity Sardinian Giba Rosso (€33 a bottle) or Candora, a Chardonnay from Puglia produced by Schola Sarmenti (€35).
PRICE: Pizzas €16.50 to €20, mains €6-28, desserts €7-9, set menu €20 (lunch), kids’ menu €12.
