NUMBER OF ROOMS: 3 rooms and 1 suite
ANNUAL CLOSURE: Open year round
THE STORY: In the far reaches of Sarthe’s Perche region, antique dealer Marine Gabily and interior designer Lucas Madani (cofounder of the studio Hauvette & Madani) pushed open the doors of Le Moulin and gave a new lease on life to this space that had been uninhabited for over a century. You’ll now find a series of stone buildings nestled into a two-hectare estate with a peaceful brook, that’s been given a facelift in order to lodge big groups of friends or family in its five spacious beds: upstairs in the big house, you’ll find two comfortable double rooms (king size and single beds, enameled bathtubs, light hardwood floors), plus a fully-equipped kitchen, a beautiful dining room and a lounge with a fireplace; in the next building over, you’ll find a suite combining carpeted bedrooms, Lita wall lights and Kartell bedside tables; another bedroom in the former sheepfold with 1970s-era curtains and a cheeky kitchenette; and one final isolated bedroom for two, for a weekend far away from everything, but near and dear to those you love. Starting at €600 a night, for the full estate.
BREAKFAST: No, but a welcome basket (filled with bread, charcuterie, local cheeses…) is available. For everything else, head to the bakery in Vancé, three kilometers away.
TOILETRIES: Aesop shampoo, body wash and soap.
LITTLE LUXURY: Leaving with a pretty bedside lamp or a mustard yellow velvet armchair, because the vintage furniture that fills the estate is for sale here!
