Straight out of Quebec, Canada native Simon-Pierre Rivard (ex-Bar Kabinet in Montreal) and Maire Ye, a Frenchwoman with Chinese roots, revived a dormant PMU sports betting bar in the 15th arrondissement, complete with its original XXL facade. Their menu features around 30 cocktails with Asian and North American influences, prepared the night we went by Antoine Doucet Chagnon (ex-Savsav in Montreal), including a few signature creations (€12): the subtly tangy Baijiu Sour (baijiu infused with bamboo leaves, homemade green tea syrup, lemon and egg whites) or the herbaceous Yubka (gin, Lillet, green Chartreuse, fresh cilantro, lime and homemade green tea syrup). And for wine lovers, there’s a seductive selection of clean nectars, served by the glass (€7-8) or the bottle (€20-55), featuring mostly French winemakers: Jean-Yves Peron, Yannick Meckert, Hervé Souhaut, Raphaël Monnier, Adeline Bruyère and Renaud Houillon, among others. To go with these generous small plates, munch on decadent deviled eggs (€4), or a ham plate with shaved Auvergne Cantal, freshly made brown butter and cracked pepper (€12). // Frances Lo
