THE STORY: Light as a feather, Anouck Leclerc and Jean-Baptiste Oger’s Perche hideaway? It’s as légère as a canary perched on a branch. A canary? Like the Spanish archipelago that inspired this home’s breezy spirit – think whitewashed walls, untreated wood, sheer curtains and vintage furniture. And that first impression really sticks with you: when you reach the very end of the (long) road and set eyes on this old longère-style farmhouse that was lovingly and tastefully renovated by the couple who founded Superchinerie, you’ll instantly feel as light as an island bird! All that’s left to do is divvy up the roosts among friends (the house sleeps seven guests in total, spread out across three bedrooms), decorated with monastic minimalism that’s so characteristic of the countryfication trend. Choose between the spacious bedroom in the former stables, which opens straight out onto the natural world, for the most adventurous among you; the attic room with its 1930s bathtub, perfect for daydreamers; and the reading room, filled with books, for all the literary souls out there. Everything you could need for a restful night’s sleep, before chilling in the communal spaces with friends or devouring a basket of local goodies at breakfast – and apéro time. House starting at €850 for two nights. // Jean-Pierre Kiroule
