A sailor never complains, he always perseveres and looks ahead. Unless, that is, hungers strikes, like it did for us that afternoon after a walk along the beach. The new addition to the family that brought us De Lanteirne and Vecino, Bonk is a little gem of a spot (wooden and windowed interiors, pared-back vibes, a sheltered and secluded outdoor space), just for its location alone, on the windswept dunes of Saint-Laurent beach. But also for its cuisine, served non-stop, which is its major pulling point. We ordered: langoustines and razor clams cooked in a flavor-packed spicy broth – the house specialty; stone fish served with aioli and strips of crispy fried cod; plus marinated tomatoes, lettuce and patatas bravas topped with feta and rosemary. And we even eyeballed some extravagant and mouthwatering lobster on the neighboring table. Will we come back? Without a doubt. The iced almond milk ristretto on the terrace already had us dreaming of a weekend away in one of the five suites upstairs, offering full-frontal sea views. // Anika Kane
