In the timeless Corsican village of Pigna, A Casarella’s wicker-laden terrace feels like a little corner of paradise…. And even if the piattini (local tapas) aren’t always to perfection, we’d come back just for the views! The night we went, we snatched up the following from the à la carte selection: tasty marinated peppers with Greek yogurt; silky eggplant caviar; average anchovies with lemon; an incredible sheep’s milk tomme cheese from the island served with homemade fig jam; an excellent pork pâté from Jean-Claude Leca; a tomato salad with somewhat bland pesto; along with artisanal ice creams from Saint-Florent – lemon-basil, Corsican chestnut… FYI: there are also breakfast and snack options, like muesli, tartines, jams, etc. // G.LeP.
FEELING THIRSTY? Artisanal lemon/mint kombucha made nearby (€3.50), craft Ribella beer (€6 for 330 ml) and a few wines from the island, including a Sartène red from the Domaine San Micheli (€4 a glass), a Clos Poggiale white (€25 a bottle) and a Patrimonio red from Stéphanie Olmeta (€27).
PRICE: Piattini €4-6 (€38 for eight), desserts €4 to €6, breakfast and snacks €4-7.
