When he says he loves il gelato, the Milanese artisan Roberto Francia isn’t kidding. The proof can be found in his kitsch little shop Arlequin, a stone’s throw from the Libé market, which keeps all of Nice cool as a cucumber with carefully crafted ice cream cones – including a “Divine” gelato that combines fior di latte, hazelnuts, white chocolate ganache and pistachios. Expect a knockout selection of flavors, thanks to their meticulously chosen ingredients: alpine milk, Italian panna, Piedmont hazelnuts, Bronte pistachios, 70% dark chocolate from Santo Domingo, Guérande sea salt… And come the holiday season, you can order frozen bûche yule logs with delightful flavor combos like stracciatella and mango or pistachio and mango. The ultimate piece of good news: all of his creations are also available at César Milano, Arlequin’s little brother (located on 43 Avenue Jean-Médecin). // Laëtitia Sayre
The hidden gem: The intense Persépolis flavor dedicated to Isabelle Adjani, made with saffron and rose water… A work of art!
