Bread bonds are sometimes just as strong as blood bonds! When friends Steven Van de Stichelen and Johan Nulens launched their artisan bakery Broodbroeders in 2015 with the aim of providing the region with a quality bakery, their philosophy was simple: quality was far more important to them than quantity, as was a respect for the ingredients, seasons, farmers and customers. The result? Delicious loaves kneaded with love and some of the best viennoiseries in all of Flanders. We’ve got a major crush on the walnut bread, the Mechels Vloerke made with local Gouden Carolus beer, the small cinnamon breads and even the flaky couque cookies made with (very good) chocolate.
