THE STORY: Here’s a tale of a village love story. That of Alexandre Fléveau (a former stylist), Guillaume Dollinger (a former designer) and an imposing stone home that’s been slumbering peacefully since the 1960s in the village of Vieux-Thouars, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Enamored with the area, the couple gave up their Parisian life, began renovations and ended up bringing 15 years of antiques and personal creations to this inspiring space, named Au Petit Thouars… The result? Five unique, elegant bedrooms, with art deco, rococo and contemporary inspirations, housed within a colorful, bourgeois building. And when hunger strikes, your hosts are hard at work inside the beautiful marble kitchen, preparing picnic baskets (to be eaten on the garden terrace, for example) and dinner served in the tiled dining room. Need more convincing? Consider the breathtaking views of the Château des Ducs de La Trémoille and the Saint-Médard church bell tower…. Double rooms starting at €90 a night.
