In Angers, there’s plenty to eat and drink, especially at this wine cellar just a stone’s throw from the bistro by the same name. That’s where Alexandre Forget offers up a selection of supernatural bottles from the region and its surroundings, in a shop run by Erwan Adam. Five hundred labels to be precise, which are organic at a minimum, all competing for visibility in this space with concrete floors and wooden shelves: Roche de Mûrs, a marvelous Chenin from La Grange aux Belles (€30 a bottle); a rare Grolleau blanc from the Famille Lavant estate (€14); Sang de l’Yon, a complex Négrette varietal produced by the Domaine des Jumeaux (€19)… At the back of the shop, you’ll find a few special gems by Richard Leroy, Hirotake Ooka, etc. In short, incredible bottles, which you might be able to negotiate on the sly. // Rosa Poulsard
The bullet-proof bottle: Midion, an Anjou Chenin from Fabrice Chaillou (€18).
