Far from Renne’s thirstiest bar-lined street, Anouck and Jérémy Meleard-Soller (ex-Origines) pour pints and quench thirsts at their biergarten in the Courrouze neighborhood: a 600 m2 ground-floor space (which was originally intended to be a middle school) with an industrial look (a tiled bar, street art on the walls, sheet metal light fixtures) and a massive terrace where you can kick back with your toes in the grass. Sip on a dozen beers microbrewed by Jérémy himself (Palm Tree smash pale ale at €3.50 for 250 ml), or some from a little further away (Exile on Fitzroy, a double IPA, €4.50), a few natural wines (French Paysan, a white from the Domaine du Pas de la Dame, €4.60 for a glass), and even some lovely herbal teas from L’Îlot Thé in Sizun. What’s more, there’s a rotating weekly lunch menu (hake confit in olive oil, chocolate lava cake with beer jelly…), small plates served at night (onion fritters with tamarin sauce, Janzé chicken sautéed with garam masala, etc.) and a weekend brunch that fills up quick. // Ari Beaux
