A Breton walks into a bar… and makes quite a splash! Maxime Guillouet (who used to be behind Tartapain) has finally swapped bread dough for bottled goods. Craft beers, natural wines, hot sauces – you name it! Whatever the vessel, as long as it delivers the taste bud-tingling thrill of a great discovery. Poured freely the day we went: a crisp New Zealand pale ale from the Bubar brewery (€3.80 for a half-pint); From Quiberon With Love, a locally brewed Citra IPA by Sparkle (€4.70); or a chenin from the Domaine des Brumes (€4.80 a glass or €21 a bottle, including €8 corkage fee). Soak it all up with a generous heap of crackers served by the landlord himself, fuet dry-cured sausage (€7), piment d’Espelette terrine (€5.50)… and of course, a fiery bottle of Swet hot sauce (€8-11)! // Maria Mariaux
