NUMBER OF ROOMS: 1 gîte (4 guests), 1 house (12 guests)
CLOSED ANNUALLY: Open all year round
THE STORY: Justine, a former project manager in the world of cinema, and Julien, a freelance tech guy, slammed the door shut on Montmartre and headed south to the sweet Provence countryside. In their Maison Rousse, at the heart of an immense orchard, they have been living la belle vie since 2017 with their children and a happy menagerie – two cats and three black chickens. All year long, they rent out an outbuilding, composed of two bedrooms and a living room with a fireplace that gives out onto the garden. In the summer and on long weekends, the entire house, pool included, is offered up to urbanites in need of a nap under the plane trees. The ultra minimalist décor (tommette tile floors, sisal, wicker, stones…) really highlights the omnipresent nature. Starting at €80 a night, count on spending around €160 a weekend for the gîte and €600 for the house, and €3,700 for a week in the house.
TOILETRIES: Natural shampoo and body wash.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: Upon request, with a basket filled with bread, jam, homemade pear juice and eggs fresh from the chicken coop.
LITTLE LUXURY: Collecting your own lemony verbena along to pool for an after-dinner infusion.
