NUMBER OF ROOMS: 5 rooms, 1 duplex
CLOSED ANNUALLY: Open all year round
THE STORY: Before falling head over heels in love with this Ardèche farmhouse back in 2012, the painter Olivier Girault and his wife Caroline de Burlet, the multilingual British and Belgian Caroline, who was raised in the Middle East, had already renovated four houses together. Fans of antiques and recycled goods, lovers of raw materials (stones, limestone, wood, concrete) and beautiful finishes, they have tastefully decorated five bedrooms and a duplex here, where guests can feel “at home, in our home.” How about a little fresh air? In addition to a pétanque field, the property also has a superb pool and electric bikes for guests, if you ever get the urge to leave this little slice of heaven for a few hours…. Double rooms starting at €100 a night.
TOILETRIES: Soap and shower gel from Océopin, a Landes brand that makes organic body products with pinus pinaster seed oil.
INTERNET: Wifi (free)
BREAKFAST: Included, with coffee or tea, viennoiseries and bread from a local baker, homemade or organic jams, homemade granola, crêpes or cakes depending on what Caroline feels like making that day, fruit, cheeses, eggs… There’s also a gluten-free and vegan option upon special request.
LITTLE LUXURY: Grabbing what you need from the garden and the chicken coop in order to make yourself a little bite to eat in the outdoor kitchen, for a small fee.
