THE STORY: This old grey stone building cultivates a very between-the-two-wars chic, with yellowing pictures from that era, furniture taken down from the attic, flamboyant tapestries and quilts. A real family home (in the photos, from left to right: Sophie, Philippe, Hervé, Anne and Françoise in 1972) where the rooms are named after the grandchildren and the breakfast jams are made by Sophie, now a grandma. In their vestibule-épicerie-cabinet of curiosities, you can also buy Hervé’s prints, local charcuteries, homemade cookies or little soaps. For the tribes: a dormitory with five beds in the Olga suite (€195) can complete one of the rooms (from €105). Angèle suite for 4 people (€175).
TOILETRIES: Little Savon de Marseille soaps.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: Included, with hot drinks (Mariage Frères teas), homemade jams, cereals, milk from the farm, fresh fruit juice (orange or grapefruit), fruits, homemade croissants, freshly baked bread and cheeses (Tomme and goat cheese), boiled eggs upon request.
LITTLE LUXURY: Every night, at 6:30, Sophie and Hervé take out their favorite spools to play movies in the big salon. On the program: Truffaut, Chabrol, Visconti, Woody Allen…
