THE STORY: Located on the outskirts of the Petite France neighborhood of Strasbourg, this immense pink sandstone house once sheltered the Haras Nationaux, a regulatory board for horse and donkey breeding in France. Abandoned by the stallions in 2005, the site, which is listed as a historic building, is now a hotel where the former quarters for stable hands and riders have been transformed into bedrooms, with saddle leather headboards, old hardwood floors, exposed wooden rafters and pommel horse-style barstools…. Double rooms starting at €149 a night.
