THE STORY: A fine example of the great houses belonging to important people in the South of France, this sumptuous hôtel particulier was built for the mayor of Arles in 1824. Today, it welcomes another set of the happy few, who indulge in its more recent developments: a beautiful pool in the middle of a lush garden and a completely private spa built under the cellar’s stone arches (hammam starting at €30, massage at €115 an hour). Vast and luminous, mixing classic Provençal style with modern design, the bedrooms are all done up in white, from the linen sheets to the furniture. Plus, it’s right in the center of town! Rooms from €309 to €489.
TOILETRIES: Hermès shampoo, shower gel, lotions.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: €26 per person, with hot drinks, freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly baked bread and viennoiseries, eggs, cheeses, fruit crepes, pastries and homemade jams.
MINI-BAR: All the products in the mini-bar (fruit juices, mineral waters, sodas, beers) are included in the price of the room, except the 1/2 bottle of Champagne (available at the bar).
LITTLE LUXURY: The bedrooms situated in the former stables, on the ground floor, each have a private terrace.
