Hidden away in a small corner of the Chaussée de Wavre with its village-like atmosphere, you’ll find the only Taiwanese restaurant in Etterbeek – a rarity in the capital! Gray walls, wooden tables (which are rarely free), and two (perhaps, three) words to describe the dishes… At Tai Hon, iconography paints a thousand words, on a menu which chef Tchou Ho (the son of former owners, Chang Chen Ho and Yi Lin Chang) cooks (very) well and which hasn’t changed over the past 10 years: “canard mordu par le tigre” – or rather, a harmless gua bao stuffed with tender duck; fried bananas paired (surprisingly) with scampi; stir-fried sliced beef canoodling with eggplant and garlic. All for barely two greenbacks. Un-beat-table! // Rocky Simone
