What’s the connection between Les Rita Mitsouko’s difficult karaoke hit “Andy” and this Antwerp coffee shop? Apart from the name, “Andy, dis-moi oui, Andy!” was sung a year before the death of a famous artist of the same first name (a certain Warhol) who, through pop art, sought to reach an ever-wider audience… much like coffee addicts Dave Haesen and Kjell Maes. With Butchers Coffee already to their names, this time round the decor is more on the minimalist side, allowing the duo to place all the focus on the java: Rwandan Fugi for espresso or flat white, roasted on site; Brazilian beans from Fazenda Sitio do Cruz for Aeropress or Moccamaster; nitro cold brew mixed with Luscombe tonic if you feel like taking in the sunshine on the terrace… And like any good gentry-cool HQ worth its name, Andy also organizes DJ sets on Saturday mornings, along with a running club, which picks up the pace well after the very last coffee is served. //
THE HIDDEN GEM: The iced latte made from a Brazilian-Guatemalan blend (€4.70).
