In the old Van Dael-Moors butcher’s shop, with its original ocher and brown tiling from floor to ceiling, time seems to have stood still for half a century. The only apparent trace of modern tastes? The divine gluten-filled goodies made by Sander Goossens, the ex-pastry chef at Domestic, who opened this artisanal bakery which bears the first name of his late opa, who also used to work in the trade. Adorning the white marble countertop: perfectly flaky pains au chocolat, understated lemon and plum tarts, vanilla, coffee and black olive tiramisù, crunchy mille-et-unes feuilles, Mont Blanc with matcha… All made using top-quality ingredients, from the butter to the flour, as well as the very fresh fruit. Not only will you leave feeling filled with joy, but with a shopping bag filled to the brim too! // Kiko Zushi
