With a wave of their magic wand, wizards Emmanuelle Deparis (who used to work in PR) and Sophie Abdaoui (ex-Radio France) transformed a former dojo on Rue Samatan into a neighborhood grocery shop with a tiled bar reminiscent of a school notebook. The wooden shelves of this lovely greengrocers are stocked with everything you could need for an (extra)ordinary life: legendary Italian Baiocchi cookies; undeniably good Guintrand tomato sauce; traditional Pac lemon syrup; plus some incredible garlic cream, hummus and taramasalata; or really good whipped fromage blanc with blueberries from the Laiterie du Col Bayard. In addition to the fresh local fruits, vegetables and flowers, there’s a selection of organic or natural wines and French beers, which you can take to go after lunching on a homemade sandwich made using ingredients from behind the bar… // Juliette Mallat
The hidden gem: The meter-long Calabrian Chavassieux sausage (€13.40), so you can shine as bright as a thousand embers once barbecue season begins.
