THE STORY: High-end boutique hotels, there aren’t a lot of those in Marseille. Claire Fatosme and Christian Lefèvre, architects by trade, took it upon themselves to fix this problem, et voilà! The readers of Monocle will now once again be able to stay in Marseille! At the foot of La Bonne Mère, in the marbles of a hôtel particulier dating from the end of the 19th century, with frescos on the ceiling, worn bricks, purified bedrooms, shades of grey, modern furniture… And to tie it all together, a spa (jacuzzi + indoor pool, Filorga treatments), accessible when you book a €95 treatment, a bar that’s open to the public with DJ sets on the weekends, expositions, a brunch on the first Sunday of the month (€59 upon reservation) served in a verdant patio, and even a private beach… Rooms from €199 to €499.
TOILETRIES: Hermès welcome products perfumed with green orange water.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: €27 buffet, with freshly squeezed juice, Mariage Frères teas, fresh fruits, charcuterie, eggs, sausages, bacon, viennoiseries, cakes, Herbin jams…
MINI-BAR: Free soft drinks (mineral waters, fruit juices, sodas).
LITTLE LUXURY: The C2 has a private beach on the île-fortin Degaby, accessible by the hotel’s private boat (€200 per person for the day, with a 5-star picnic basket). New C2 Beach & Relax package with one hotel night, 2 massages, 2 picnic baskets and transfer to and from the island at €849 for 2 people.
