Everyone dreams of having something like Les Pissenlits on the ground floor of their apartment building! It’s the type of independent grocer where “bonjour” rings out in a chorus, filling the space as soon as you step inside. And who may we find running this excellent shop? Delphine Ménard and Camille Le Van, two trendy friends who support local farmers. When we passed by the other day, we picked up: some juicy tomatoes from Saint-Rémy and cherry tomatoes from the house vegetable patch, zucchini from Aubagne, mirabelle plums from Villeneuve, fresh sage and chicory that had just been harvested… It’s also worth noting that they sell bread (from the baker’s at Salvator), Zinzin grape juice and coffee roasted by the Brûlerie Moka. Meanwhile, the blackboard behind the bar details the chicken available upon special order and a different gourmet recipe every day – today’s was all about how to throw a pickle party! // J.M.
Hidden gem: Saucisson from La Perche de Mallemort (€20.90/kg).
