Across from Loumarin’s former 18th-century oil mill, which has since been transformed into a hotel by the Beaumier group, you’ll now find a beautiful fine foods shop, complete with modern hanging lamps, ceramic tiles, gravel floors in the wine cellar corner… and a white-cushioned ledge in front of the windowed facade, so you can savor a freshly-made sandwich, enjoy a specialty coffee or improvise an apéro hour snack. What will you find on the shelves? Local bottles of wine: rosé from the Domaine de la Cavalière, a low-intervention red from the Domaine Les Perpetus, and a white from the Château La Verrerie. Plus gourmet treats from slightly further away: artisan jams from Alain Berlengue in Pertuis, goat cheeses from the Massif de la Sainte-Baume, artisan pastis from the Aix distillery Garagaï, and Provence-style cuttlefish from the Sète cannery Azais-Polito. Or from further away still: Moie sweet corn from the south-west, rare Japanese short-grain Masakado Hikari Mai rice… // Marcellin Caillou
THE HIDDEN GEM: The extra virgin olive oil from the Domaine Les Perpetus in La Tour-d’Aigues which combines oil extracted from Aglandau and Bouteillan varieties of olives (€21 for 500 ml).
