“Pépite” (“gem” in French), the aptly named pastry shop? In any case, Pierre de Almeida (ex-Dolma and Bozar) and his partner Alessandra Roemaet (ex-Gardens of Aromates) are doing everything in their power to ensure that their boutique (an organic bar, round mirrors rimmed with neon lights) lives up to its name: the pastries, which are meticulously placed on a marble platter, are sheer bliss. Everything oozes luxury and a meticulous attention to detail, from the Cocochinno (a crispy chocolate base, coconut mousse, coffee mousse, peanut-tonka caramel and sliced almonds), the truly stunning speculoos pumpkin cake, and their excellent apple tart with a walnut crisp, a madeleine-style crust and thinly sliced baked apple… Everything you need to make your coffee break feel as chic as high tea. Special shout-out to the friendly staff, who are always happy to explain the house creations in detail. // Joséphine Espe

The hidden gem: The aforementioned apple tart (€7).
