There’s a hint of Brooklyn at this artisan bakery which opened in 2022 in the Vennes neighborhood, with its big patio windows that proudly display Samuel Peeters’ meticulous work. You’ll need to get up early (or reserve ahead) if you want to leave with one of the homemade baguettes, oat-spelt wheat loaves or organic Rouge de Bordeaux heirloom wheat sourdough loaves, or Friday’s focaccia topped with vegetables, depending on the chef’s inspiration of the day. Struggling to choose between sweet or savory? There are small Emmental cheese breads, savory tarts inspired by Mediterranean cuisine, excellent croissants, moist cinnamon rolls, speculoos and peanut butter cookies… // Mireille Flocon
The hidden gem: The babka with generous amounts of chocolate (€7 for a dozen slices), which you’ll want to sink your teeth into as soon as you step out of the shop.
