Oh Romeo, Romeo! Do you want a gin and tonic? On the second floor of the former Royale Belge, the gigantic brutalist building from the 1970s, you’ll now find Roméo, a cocktail bar attached to Mix, the concept hotel from Jean Michel André (Jam, Le Berger). The scene in question? It’s decked out with olive green carpeting, terrazzo tiles, brass and concrete. Inside, Cédric Buscemi (ex-Pharmacie Anglaise) shakes up White Mezcal Negronis with flavors as smoky as the windows (made with Suze and Lillet blanc, €13), or tangy Jungle Birds (Appleton and Trois Rivières rum, pineapple, Campari, lime, €12). There are also non-alcoholic options, like the Orgealada (coconut, pineapple, orgeat and tropical juice, €9), Belgian beers (Sociaal from the brewery Brasserie Illegal, €5) and natural wine served by the glass (€7-9). Want something to sponge that all up? There’s a buffet of Italian hors-d’oeuvres (€16 for a plate, €36 for a platter) and slices of free pizza on Friday with every cocktail. There’s nothing tragic about this story, just a very pretty bar for people looking to show off a bit. Also: DJ sets every Thursday and Friday night. // Timotea Persil
