MIX Brussels

THE STORY: After major renovations, the 54,000 m2 building which used to house the Royale Belge headquarters in Watermael-Boitsfort has been reborn. Hello, gigantic hotel complex! Boasting a hypnotic mirrored glass facade, the building is home to a four-star hotel, a healthy café (Joule), a restaurant serving seasonal dishes (Timber), a cocktail bar (Roméo), artsy coworking spaces and even a food market (Fox)! All of which are centered neatly around an eye-catching circular staircase. Overseen by the much sought-after Brussels architect, Lionel Jadot, around 50 designers from Zaventem Ateliers collaborated on the interior design. The result? A subtle mix of unique, bespoke rooms which have the feel of a museum celebrating Belgian design. Even the fitness center looks like an art gallery – so chic that you’d almost think twice before breaking a sweat in there. Annexed to the latter, a wellness boutique with a sauna, swimming pools, jacuzzis and flat screen TVs, for splashing around while catching up on your favorite shows. Perhaps the most important point: only adults are allowed in this zen space! Rooms starting a €99 a night. // Jeanne Jaco
