Sure, their logo is a tad Magritte-esque (surrealist, obvs), but that’s not necessarily what’s going on here: past the entrance of this art deco building with a veranda that oozes Columbian vibes, hides a huge foyer that’s both brutalist and baroque, filled with dazzlingly chic chandeliers. A few gastronomic-looking plates whizz past our eyes, while a crowd dressed to the nines dances to the sound of some ultra-clubby electro… Is this Brussels or Berlin? Founders and brothers Grison, Charles and Édouard sure had us fooled. But fear not, the beer’s never far away, brewed downstairs, with a dozen or so house beers available on tap behind the long bar. It seems they like their beers just like their rap, West Coast-style, like the Opera Fantastico! Plus, there’s a nice selection of wines, because you can eat here too, even without a reservation, nibbling on tasty shared plates (yummy dauphine potatoes with black garlic; cod croquettes and tartar sauce; corn ribs with smoked paprika and lime, €9)… Ceci n’est pas un bar! // Gueuze Van Sant
BULLET-PROOF BOTTLE: The collection of single-hop IPAs from Dream, with Simcoe, Citra, or Mosaic, depending on what’s been made (€5 a glass).
