THE STORY: A riad in the heart of Marrakesh’s Medina? Mais non! We’re in Burgundy, along the Maroc forest, where Kanèle Gendron and Caroline Houdart have renovated a lovely building with a belvedere in order to accommodate big groups – up to 14 to be exact. Spread out over two floors, you’ll find four double bedrooms decorated with retro wallpaper and carefully chosen vintage pieces, along with a six-bed dormitory for the kiddos, plus three bathrooms. And on the ground floor, all you could need for a chill weekend between the lounge and the dining room (herringbone parquet floors, an old fireplace), where you can cook all your meals in the fully equipped kitchen (a range cooker, Smeg fridge) whose cupboards are overflowing with locally sourced ingredients. Not to mention the two-hectare estate and the aforementioned forest that surrounds it, if you happen to be in the mood to wander… House starting at €1,700 for the weekend (two-night minimum stay), €2,500 for the full week.
BREAKFAST: Four-person basket (€23) filled with organic juice, brioche, jams, yogurts and seasonal fruit from local producers. And in the kitchen, everything you need to prepare hot drinks.
TOILETRIES: Edone body wash.
LITTLE LUXURY: Rent the khaïma, a traditional tent set up on the grounds, which can accommodate 120 people if you’re planning a special celebration.
