Under the protection of Ériu, the patron goddess of Ireland, owner Grace Lohan pampers her guests a mere stone’s throw from Bordeaux’s public gardens. In her café all done up in shades of green (everything from the facade and the tile backsplash behind the bar to the Marzocco espresso machine), the dishes scribbled out on the blackboard menu get the job done right: the day we went, they included a perfect taco made on an elastic corn tortilla, filled with fried cod, a lemony yogurt sauce and chili to spice it all up; before a master class in brioche French toast that was moist and caramelized at the same time, topped with silky whipped cream, raspberries and maple syrup. It’s also worth noting that breakfast is served during the week (bacon and eggs, homemade granola, tartines topped with homemade peanut butter and bananas, etc.), plus brunch on the weekends – eggs Benedict or Turkish eggs, homemade pancakes, crispy bacon and maple syrup… // R.T.
