Café latte, pan con tomate and wines to sip on: that’s the very caliente plan of the Aymerich family (Tom, the founder of Charmi, his brother Adrien, a former lawyer, and Helena, Adrien’s girlfriend, who used to work in fashion), who have come to spice up Rue Charlot. Staring at 8:30am, the pastry chef Zoé Souchard, who previously studied at the Beaux-Arts, delights guests with pistachio rolls, buttery croissants and well-made cookies – salted chocolate, matcha / white chocolate, or carrot cake and pecan flavors. Later in the day, they roll out the tapas: boquerones (fresh anchovies marinated in vinegar and garlic), fuet (Catalan salami) and black garlic manchego, all of which comes directly from Spain, in addition to first-rate tinned seafood – sardines in lemon and olive oil, calamari with squid ink, mussels in escabeche… Not to mention the famous pan con tomate: browned toast, fresh tomato purée, olive oil, fleur de sel, and optional Iberian ham. Bonus: on Tuesdays, they host adorable knitting and tapas nights from 5pm to 10pm. // Anna Elisabeth
