A word of advice to coffee brewing purists: your new temple is now open! And what a temple it is… Dreamt up by the Hypnos agency, the space is a brutalist dream of brushed steel, white plaster and waxed concrete – a Kubrick-worthy set where nothing feels out of place. But fret not: if this futuristic aesthetic feels radical, the caffeine odyssey you’re about to embark on is far gentler. Starting with the warm welcome of the owners, Kevin Cerqueira (ex-Terres de Café) and Linda Huyng (with a background in merchandising), two lovers of expertly roasted coffee beans who decided to dedicate themselves to the cult of V60 pour-over. This gentle brewing method yields subtle and nuanced cups of java, which you can even sample before deciding which one you want to order. During our last trip there, we opted for the beans roasted by The Picky Chemist in Liège and the Goût & Co beans roasted in Sichuan province. Not your cup of tea? There’s also oolong and hibiscus cold brew to choose from, plus chocolate marble cake, madeleines and carrot cake by Christophe Louie. In other words, less is more! // Anna Elisabeth
THE HIDDEN GEM: The aforementioned carrot cake, which isn’t cheap but is truly delicious (€8 a slice).
