This place is definitely connected, the sound system most of all! Located in the Haut Marais neighborhood, Mesures plays its jazz kissa score to perfection: a cocktail and music bar with French-Japanese influences, based on a very good idea distilled by mixologist Guillaume Castagnet (ex-Castor Club) and musician Benoît de Bonnefamille. Its look? Dark wood, timeworn metal and a marble bar, for an overall “Fifty Shades of Subdued” ambiance, with records playing in the background. And in the glasses? A full-bodied Aztobizkar milk punch (macerated Aguardente de Cana cachaça, rhum agricole, a star anise-infused pommeau reduction, absinthe, cold brew, lime and milk clarified pedro ximénez vinegar) or an evocative and delightful Haitian Fight Song (vin jaune, Mezan rum cold-infused with cocoa beans and tarragon, roasted banana brown butter and Mossburn Speyside whisky), both for €14. There are also 15 natural wines to choose from (Camille and Mathieu Apffel, Bastian Beny) and plates put together by Cyril-Tuan Pham (ex-Dersou): juicy meat croquettes breaded in panko (€8), XXL hotdogs (€8), hayashi rice (€16)… The kitchen is also open at lunchtime, with a €30 set menu. // Frances Lo
