THE STORY: In the Adresse Hôtels family, we’re particularly fond of Maison Saintonge! After Monsieur Aristide in Montmartre, the Hôtel des Académies et des Arts in Montparnasse and La Ponche in Saint-Tropez, among others, the group is continuing to conquer France with a brand-new headquarters in the middle of the Marais neighborhood. What’s so special about Saintonge, you ask? This hotel/épicerie feels a bit like one of the family-run inns you’d find in its namesake region of the Charente department. Behind the cream-colored facade with small red and white awnings, you’ll find 22 bedrooms with chic, vintage decor (antique dressers and tables, bee-print curtains, Beaux-Art sketches, rotary phones) for guests who are nostalgic for the past. And that’s not all: among the épicerie products displayed on the ground floor, you’ll see candy jars filled to the rim with chocolates, candy canes and caramels… in addition to preserved lemons, foie gras and capers for those who prefer something savory. Double rooms starting at €260 a night.
TOILETRIES: Grown Alchemist shampoo, body wash and soap.
BREAKFAST: €15 with coffee or tea, fruit juice, viennoiseries, freshly baked bread, butter, jam, honey, granola, yogurt, fresh fruit…
LITTLE LUXURY: Do your grocery shopping at the lively Marché des Enfants-Rouges, located near the hotel.
