Do you wake up feeling good, but not quite at the crack of dawn? Look no further than Pontochoux for all your morning coffee needs. Pontochoux? You heard us right, the Japanese curry spot in the Marais! Right next to the original location, the café version (floor-to-ceiling windows, unfinished walls, cute barstools) has made its way into the world with help from Étienne Ribon, who used to work at Terres de Café, and who is now determined to help you play it cool. The afternoon we went, given the heat, we decided to skip the classic pour-overs, lattes and cappuccinos in favor of a very fresh Akitonick, a beverage that combines orange juice, tonic water, spices and coffee roasted by the Danish experts over at Coffee Collective. And there’s no need to panic if you’re off coffee, you can also sip on some hojicha or sencha teas. There’s even a selection of gluten-based French sweets, given a clever twist by Akira Takahashi (ex-Les Climats), like matcha dacquoise, hojicha cannelés or black sesame madeleines. So come kick back and enjoy! // Anna Elisabeth
