Regulars and passersby alike chatter away in unison, seated on the light wood banquettes of Perruche, this well-oiled corner bistro run by Jérémy Landié (ex-Étiquette) and Clément Beck (ex-Gramm) near Marien Stadium. Surrounded by the perruches, or parakeets, that adorn the wallpaper, a series of lovely plates file out at lunch, stitched together using seasonal vegetables purchased that very morning. Starting with the mood-boosting dish of the day, a baked cauliflower and Comté casserole served with a small side salad (to keep it healthy), the perfect remedy for the pouring rain outside… Meanwhile, our neighbor was digging into the pork shoulder prepared like a saucy white carbonade. A pear and apple crumble with a rich buttery flavor, plus a strong espresso, and we’re ready to tackle the rest of the day. Otherwise, those in a rush can always grab a sandwich – like the Comté, hummus and grilled veg combo, or the one with pulled pork, soy mayo and cabbage salad. // Aline Flamme
