L'Epicerie au Bon Manger
A Klein blue façade, shelves heavy with bottles and edible treats, big wooden tables… In their hybrid wine and fine foods shop/restaurant located right near the Halles du Boulingrin, Aline and Eric Serva swear by 100% natural wines and pedigreed products: Joyeuse honey, Marou chocolate, Roellinger spices, Ospital cured pork… For the love of all good things, the other day at lunch: a Basque blood pudding that was grilled with infinite tenderness and served with sautéed apples; delicious Scottish salmon smoked over alder wood by Maison Barthouil; cheeses with plenty of character, like the Pavé de Roubaix aged by Philippe Olivier in Boulogne-sur-Mer… All presented with eloquence and emotion by the owner, who has a lot to say on her favorite topic: le bon manger, or eating well. Reservations are highly recommended. // T.V.X.
FEELING THIRSTY? There are excellent, rare and curious choices: Charlot-Tanneux Champagne (€40 a bottle), a Slovakian Riesling from Magula (€42), a Banyuls red from Rié and Hirofumi Shoji (€44)… It’s worth noting that there are fun blind wine tastings by the glass (€7).
PRICE: À la carte €31-54.
