Cyclists, this one’s for you! Nele Van Hassel (communications) and Wouter De Vos (finance) have parked themselves in the historic center to get their cycling café up to speed, complete with views of Saint Antony’s chapel – and the very climb where Julian Alaphilippe clinched the world title a few years ago. Forget museum-like tributes to cycling. Instead, there’s a bright, Scandi-inspired space that feels lovingly cobbled together and comfortably lived in, with just a couple of bikes mounted on the wall and a handful of photographs celebrating life in the saddle. Most importantly, there’s excellent coffee from Replica Roasters to get your legs turning, plus plenty of carbs to keep them going: gently warmed cinnamon rolls, croque-monsieur with a crisp side salad or pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw and BBQ sauce. Weekends are for brunch, including croissants or pains au chocolat, fresh pistolet bread rolls and neatly filled little sandwiches, including one with homemade egg salad, among other treats. Flat tire? Loose bolt? You’ll find everything you need at the counter. · Madame Ripaille

Feeling thirsty? Replica Roasters coffee comes every which way, from espresso (€3.10) to flat white (€4.40). Beyond that, there’s a not-too-sweet chai latte (€4.50), proper hot chocolate (€4), homemade passion fruit or ginger lemonade (€4.50), Smile kombucha (€4 for 250 ml) and, come apero hour, Oud Beersel gueuze (€8.50 for 375 ml).

Price: Snacks €2-12, lunch dishes €8-9 (weekdays), brunch €3-10 (Saturday and Sunday), desserts and pastries €3-4.50.
