A post-smash revolution is underway in Antwerp! Tucked away on Mechelseplein, Tap Out sends out burger after burger from an industrial-brutalist spot (concrete, stainless steel, automated ordering) that makes no secret of its obsession with detail. At the helm are David Copmans and Lynn Schevelenbos (also behind Camino and Osaka), joined by their right-hand man, chef Max Simons, who are all on a mission to elevate street food to its finest form. Their undisputed champion? The Butter Bun, featuring a made-from-scratch sweet potato bun loaded with a beef patty from Carnivale butcher’s, oozy cheddar and ultra-thin onion rounds, all doused in salted butter – pure crispy, juicy, melty perfection. Other contenders include the Royal, which plays a rather classic hand with ketchup, mustard and pickles, and for those craving some fusion flavors, try the Korean-inspired option with breaded chicken, pickled red cabbage, glazed eggplant and a secret sauce. Seriously good, high intensity fast food! // Coco Bianca
