Finally, a coffee shop worthy of the name in Nîmes! Who’s responsible for this feat? Emmanuelle and François-Xavier Durieu, who used to work in the textile and hotel industries before letting their homesickness bring them back to the south. Hidden behind the Carré d’Art in a space which operates like a Swiss Army knife, everything is permitted: grabbing a quick breakfast, lounging around with a cup of tea during the day, having a relaxing apéro at the bar… and at lunch, eating carefully-sourced meals. The other day, seated at the communal table decorated with a bouquet of dried flowers, we opted for a good slow-roasted pork loin paired with roasted leeks and potatoes; followed by a perfectly made chocolate-buckwheat tart. Before leaving, don’t forget to grab some of their terroir-centric goods and carefully chosen items: vinegars from the Château d’Estoublon, terrines from Le Manoir d’Alexandre, Txocola chocolate bars, ceramics made by Elise Lefebvre, wooden pieces by Sophie Sellu… // Gwen Jacquère
FEELING THIRSTY? Almost too much to choose from: natural wines (Le Vin des Amis, an Hérault red from Jeff Coutelou at €6 a glass, La Glacière, a Gard white at €31 a bottle…), Borderline strawberry-guava-violet juice (€4.50 for 250 ml), Torü smoky black tea (€3.70)…
PRICE: Dish of the day €13-15, main-dessert-tea combo €22-24.
