As the latest addition to the Maccheroni trattoria family on Rue Féronstrée, little sister Altro Maccheroni is definitely not feeling the impact of the cost of living crisis! Behind a large display window complete with Italian-style décor (garlic and chilies drying from the ceiling, a huge transalpine fresco on the wall, vintage suspension lights), there’s a workshop, an open kitchen and a counter where pasta-addicts jostle to fill their gluten-friendly shopping bags with tasty, fresh, bronze-drawn pasta of the day: maccheroni (obviously), casarecce, and altre pappardelle to pair with jars of delicious homemade sauces (ragù, puttanesca, cacio e pepe, arrabbiata, etc.). At noon, a short menu of cucina popolare sees perfect plates of eggplant parmigiana, vitello tonnato, pappardelle with ham and sage butter or rigatoni with veal ragù parading out of the kitchen, served on marble-topped bistro tables, accompanied by a dozen natural wines displayed from floor to ceiling. THE HIDDEN GEM: Fresh pappardelle delicately wrapped into little nests (€2.50 for 200g) to pair with a creamy radicchio-truffle sauce (€18 for an 800g jar).
