The people of Pantin patiently waited and P1 delivered! After winning over the sacred hearts of the 18th arrondissement with his double act Atelier P1 and P1 Bouche, Julien Cantenot is adding a third star to his lineup, just a few breadcrumbs away from his home, nestled between the Hermès workshops and the Centre National de la Danse. At this brick and polished concrete café/bakery, sacks of T65 flour sit alongside savvy gluten-lovers waiting around the windowed display case to snag some goodies, to enjoy in house or take to go: the house’s signature breads, like the méteil loaf (T80 wheat flour and T170 rye flour), the rice and buckwheat bread or the einkorn loaf that stays fresh for several days; gooey buckwheat and black sesame cookies, plump orange madeleines, or fruity monocle pastries. There are also breakfast options, like granola or tartines, served with strong coffee from the nearby roasters at Anbassa, along with lots of other tasty treats – ciabatta or buns filled with good things (including a vegan option), or surprisingly light tartlets topped with cherry tomatoes, pistou and olives.
THE HIDDEN GEM: The praline pain au chocolate, inspired by your most indulgent dreams – €3.60 each though!
