THE STORY: Behind a pretty pale green façade near the Canal Saint-Martin, there’s a discreet guest house tucked away, brought to life by the Desjeux Delaye interior design duo. On the ground floor, the dining room (a glass roof, lots of souvenirs and antique objects) has a cabinet-of-curiosities feel, and guests are welcomed around a vintage (of course) table d’hôte. Upstairs, the atmosphere gets a little cozier and encourages naps under the covers, in bedrooms with velvet headboards, harmless rotary dial telephones, and grey-orange, green-camel or grey-khaki tones, plus views of the Parisian rooftops. Double rooms starting at €120 a night.
TOILETRIES: Soap, body wash and body lotion.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: €13 with coffee or tea, fruit juice, bread and viennoiseries from the nearby bakery, fresh fruit, cheese, charcuterie.
LITTLE LUXURY: The green patio with midnight blue zellige tile floors and fairy lights.
